Dublin: Planning a Journey by Bike

If are you new to cycling in the area, or haven’t been out on your bike for a while, it’s worth checking out the best route to work – with lots of off street routes and designated cycle lanes you might just find it’s a lot simpler than you thought!

Active Travel Guide

On the MyCommute Active Travel Guide for Central Park we have highlighted some of the key routes across and through Dublin which we hope will be of use.

Transport for Ireland

The Transport for Ireland website is a great starting point. On their site you can download cycle maps and routes and on their Route Planner page you can even select the sort of route you want by bike; quiet side streets which might take a bit longer, fast routes which might mean you are in traffic more or the shortest route – often a mixture of the two!

CycleStreets

Another useful resource is the CycleStreets tool, you can find a link below. It provides a detailed journey plan and displays useful information such as how many calories you will burn, how long the journey will take and even how hill the route is.

Useful Apps

There are now a wide range of apps available to help you with your bike journey, we’ve pulled together a guide so you can explore which apps work best for you!
